“Fantastic day at a beautiful venue!
When my partner and I visited Ventnor Botanic Gardens as a potential venue for our wedding, we immediately fell in love with the place. The gardens themselves are beautiful, and it was wonderful to be able to hold the ceremony outside followed by a drinks reception in a garden full of palm trees. There is even a tunnel out to the cliffs to get some dramatic photos against the sea. The whole day can be tailor-made to exactly the wedding you want. We wanted a small wedding, so were able to hire the restaurant (which seats 56 people) for the evening reception. For those who want a larger wedding, there is the option of hiring a marquee. There is a wide range of options for food, from three-course meals to BBQs to buffets. We requested a custom menu of vegan-sharing platters, expecting this to be expensive or too much trouble for the chef, but it was neither! The chef, Michael, delivered a fantastic spread, everything was so delicious and more than we could have imagined. During the year of planning, there was a little disruption at Ventnor - the wedding coordinators changed twice and the chef changed once. This did not impact our planning or our day though, as everything was handed over seamlessly and the day we had hoped for was delivered perfectly. Antony and Darren are absolute stars and dealt with a lot of the finer details behind the scenes - sourcing local beer, organising table linen, setting up the music and moving chairs and tables around between all the different parts of the day. It was absolutely perfect, and if you’re looking for an outdoor venue (with backup rooms in case of rain) that will look after you throughout the whole process and cater for your exact requests, this is the place to go!”

“ Intimate wedding ceremony at VGB.

Our wedding experience with VBG was fabulous, from start to finish. Although we had a small ceremony, we felt that we were given the same care and attention as a larger wedding. VGB stayed in touch with us throughout, keeping us up to date with all of our wedding plans.
As we were not from the island, they also helped us with recommendations for people who could dress the venue, make our cake and provide flower arrangements. All of them were amazing!
Nothing was too much trouble! From the initial arranging of the date, all the way through to the day itself. We felt extremely well looked after with all possibilities considered and alternatives ready if needed.
Darren and Anthony were wonderful in helping with the arrangements, showing us amazing parts of the garden which would be wonderful for photos and being there on the day to make sure everything ran smoothly. Even helping to arrange my dress as I began to walk towards my husband-to-be. We are so pleased we found this hidden gem! A perfect wedding venue.”

The VBG team have been very helpful in making our dream wedding come to be... The venue was the perfect setting for a relaxed and enjoyable day - We are still receiving compliments from family and friends 3 months on!
We particularly liked that we were able to have a reasonably ecological-friendly celebration at an economical fee.
The outsourced provider’s feedback on the wedding team’s organisation skills, and warm and friendly manner, as well as the beauty of the setting.
Many of our guests have already made plans to revisit the Gardens, including our Photography and Videography team, who all stated there was so much more to capture.

We also made use of the convenience of the on-site cottage as our accommodation for the night before the ceremony and a few days’ honeymoons - It was delightful.

“ Our gorgeous elopement wedding at Ventnor Botanic Gardens

After a very short engagement, we decided we absolutely had to get married on the Isle of Wight, after holidays a few times a year and already have fantastic memories. We contacted a few venues, but Antony was the only one that responded and answered all my complex questions! It had to be exactly what we wanted and nothing was too much trouble for Antony and the team. They even foraged me a bouquet and did my husband a boutonnière the morning of our wedding from the beautiful flowers lining the gardens! The chef prepared us a delicious vegan three-course meal and we felt very well attended to as well as left alone in private to enjoy our meal together as newlyweds. They sorted everything so we could just turn up and get married. We even used two very friendly and happy members of their team as our witnesses! We loved our wedding day and wouldn’t have changed a thing about the planning, the day and the thoughts of returning to the gardens the next time we visit the island on holiday to relive our special day. Jodie Hope was our photographer and she captured the essence of our marriage perfectly. ”

“A wedding day more than we could ever wish for.

Our wedding at home (not on the IOW) was sadly cancelled due to Covid, however our honeymoon was on the Isle of Wight. We just wanted to get married just us two and our two dogs and wondered whether it would be possible to marry whilst holidaying on the Island. I emailed VBG with our unusual situation explaining we wanted no fuss a little ceremony for us two, no guests other than our dogs. Anita the Events Manager emailed me straight back and said it was absolutely possible! We had a Zoom meeting to run through what we wanted and what they could provide and it was booked.

The day had come, the sun was shining and we had our best friends with us (our dogs). Soon as we arrived at VBG we were greeted by Anita and shown our beautiful garden room decorated with beautiful flowers to our surprise and overlooking botanical trees. Our private little ceremony was everything we asked for: beautiful room, no fuss and our dogs beside us. Anita then followed us around the gardens taking hundreds of photos even down the secret tunnel. We cannot recommend Anita enough she really made our day perfect and even better than we could of ever thought. She made it happen! Thanks so much Botanic Gardens.
